Maria A Arana

lost

voice

will

desire

love

found

breath burns

from your touch

breeze reconciles

faded love

and this too

cuts deep

what’s the difference in the end

when two lovers hate as much as we do

that not even the tweeting birds and chirping crickets provide solace

what’s the difference

when the cord no longer links our hands as one

and keeps our bed warm for our children now tied in knots
